Growth Plan for South Indian Pharmacy Retailer Drives Strategic Expansion
Our project with a South Indian healthcare business focused on expanding their pharmacy retail chain. We began by analyzing the unit economics of their current format to understand profitability benchmarks and identify optimization opportunities. This led to a retail catchment analysis, where we evaluated customer demographics and nearby store impacts to assess potential cannibalization. Building on these insights, we conducted city-by-city assessments to estimate viable store counts based on demand forecasts and strategic coverage. From this analysis, we developed a comprehensive growth plan encompassing several critical elements. The plan included a detailed manpower strategy, guiding optimal staffing per location, a real estate strategy for securing high-potential sites, and a warehousing and logistics roadmap to support scaling operations. One of our key contributions was a low-cost logistics plan tailored specifically for pharmacy needs. This unique approach optimized delivery routes and reduced costs, ensuring swift and cost-efficient supply replenishment for each store. Once finalized, the plan was presented to the board, receiving approval for immediate rollout. With the strategic framework in place, this South Indian pharmacy chain is well-positioned for sustainable growth across new markets, driven by data-backed decisions and a tailored logistics strategy that supports the efficient expansion of its retail footprint.
